How to make Chingri/prawn Malaikari, Recipe (Prawn malaikari)

Chingri Macher Malaikari or Prawn malaikari is a popular Bengali dish .Chingri Macher Malai Curry (Bengali Prawn Curry with Coconut) .This is one of my mom's favorites and I like to make it on special days such as her . Learn how to make Chingri/prawn Malaikari, Recipe.......



Ingredients:

 prawns- 400 gm

Onion (very finely chopped): 1 cup

 mustard oil- 3 tbsp

 whole cumin- 1/2 tbsp

 ginger paste- 2 tbsp

cumin paste- 1 tbsp

 cumin powder- 2 tbsp

 chilli powder- 1 tbsp

 turmeric powder -1 tbsp

green cardamoms-4

Green chillies -2

Salt to taste

  sugar

 Freshly made black-mustard-seed paste-1.5 tbsp

 bay leaf- 1

Freshly scraped coconut paste: ¾ cup

2 tsp ghee


Method:

 Clean the prawns and marinate with 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.

Heat Oil in a kadai or pan and fry the prawns till it turns golden brown. Keep them aside in a bowl

In the same  oil, add the bay leaf, whole cinnamon , green cardamoms and wait for a few seconds.

 Add the cumin light brown. Add the chopped onion and half the salt. Sauté for 6 min, or until the onion looks golden-brown and soft.

Add the turmeric and cumin, add ginger past combined with 4 tbsp water after 4-5 min add salt,sugar,red chilli powder,black mustarde seed past and coconut paste and saute

Now add the prawns and slit green chillies and stir for few min and 1/2 cup of water and bring it to boil.
 Allow it to cook for 5-6 minutes. The food is ready to be served
